A little bit of history

The Women's Hall was gifted to the women of Billingshurst in 1923 by Edith and Ellen Beck whose imposing portraits you can see in the hall. The sisters who were part of the suffragette movement and friends with Emily Pankhurst herself, followed this generous gift with the donation of the adjoining playground in 1926.

The Women’s Hall was initially set up to provide a safe space for women to meet and is now used by all sectors of the community.
